On the night of September 25-26, 1953, Stefan Wyszyński was arrested and imprisoned for three years. The first place of isolation was the Capuchin monastery in Rywałd Królewski.
The Primate stayed there from September 26 to October 12.

[…] Today I ‘erected’ the Way of the Cross, writing the names of the Stations of the Cross on the wall with a pencil and marking them with a cross. The rest – Ecclesia supplet.”
